Creating a Cactus and Indoor Succulent open planter

This wide concrete bowl was brought into the shop recently to be given a new lease of life. The owner fancied a super low maintenance indoor succulent and cactus garden, something that would catch an eye, but wouldn’t struggle if it was left home along for a few weeks. We embedded each plant into a mix of well drained soil, sand and pumice, before packing them in with a mixed stone finish. An open bowl garden like this would need to be watered every two to four weeks, sparingly. While it could take a blast of full sun, it’s better to keep it in filtered, indirect sunlight, and a room where the temperature doesn’t drop too low.
